San Diego EMT pleads guilty to unlawful sex with a minor under 16

Zachary Stinchcomb, an EMT with Rural/Metro of San Diego, pleaded guilty on Wednesday April 1 after being accused of pretending to be a minor and sexually assaulting a teenage girl while in uniform. As part of a plea deal, the 23-year-old Stinchcomb pleaded guilty to a count of unlawful sex with a minor under 16, while a count of oral copulation was dismissed. Under the plea deal, he faces probation or up to one year in jail, where he previously faced a maximum of four years in prison.

According to a search warrant, Stinchcomb met a 15-year-old girl on the website, saying he was 17 years old. After exchanging messages on the KIK messaging app, they met in person and started a sexual relationship. When the girl eventually broke off the relationship, Stinchcomb became upset.

On January 22, the girl asked Stinchcomb for a ride to school, but he instead drove her to another area, where he pinned her, threatened her with a knife and assaulted her.

After the guilty plea, The County of San Diego Emergency Medical Services are preparing to revoke his EMT certification.
