Iowa Gynecologist Accused of Inappropriate Interactions

Gynecologist Frederick Sager, 64, has agreed to pay a $7,500 fine to settle allegations that he acted inappropriately with patients inside and outside his clinic.

The Iowa Board of Medicine will also require Sager to have a female chaperone present when he treats women from now on.

The board said Sager’s inappropriate actions included prescribing addictive medications to women that showed signs of seeking out controlled substances, even when pregnant. He also let patients stay at his Florida vacation home while he was there.

Under the settlement, Sager must also undergo professional boundaries training and psychotherapy and have his work overseen by another doctor.
