Vermont Dentist convicted of medical fraud, now faces sexual assault charges

Dr. Peter Gray has been charged with multiple counts of sexual assault and was convicted of fraud for billing Medicaid for procedures he did not preform. He was sentenced to 6-months to 6 years in jail. He now faces charges for the assaults, to which he has pled not guilty. Dr. Gray’s license had been suspended several times prior to the assault accusations. He voluntarily closed his office in October 2011 and has not practiced dentistry since. Peter Gray Dentist Sexual Assault

Dr. Gray will not go to jail for sexually abusing a woman recovering from anesthesia, but his guilty plea to a misdemeanor offense of prohibited acts will make it nearly impossible for him to practice for the next ten years.

Gray originally faced two felony counts of lewd and lascivious conduct that carried up to five years in jail. To avoid this sentence, he entered a plea deal that would prevent Gray from ever working with patients covered by Medicare, Medicaid, Tricare military coverage and veterans’ benefits.
