Physician sentenced to 13 years for sexual assault of a patient

In 2007, a physician in the Chicago suburb of Berwyn had his license suspended and was arrested after multiple women came forward alleging inappropriate comments and touching during the course of medical examinations with the doctor. The alleged victims ranged in age from 23 to 52. Dr. Ricardo Arze was originally charged with misdemeanor sexual battery, but as the investigation continued, over 25 women came forward, and the charges were raised to one count of criminal sexual assault and 10 counts of misdemeanor sexual battery. In addition to the criminal charges, Dr. Arze also faced a case in civil court from one of his alleged victims. He was found guilty in 2012 of at least one of the charges brought against him. He was sentenced to 13 years in prison in April of 2013 as a result of that guilty verdict, which other cases still pending.
