Gerald Thomas Cagle, 63, an Arlington, Texas nurse with a history of licence revocations, has been indicted on a charge of sexually assaulting a female patient at Medical Center of Arlington in March 2014.
Cagle was arrested on October 31 after an investigation concluded he assaulted the patient during an examination. The Medical Center of Arlington removed Cagle immediately upon learning of the allegations.
According to the arrest warrant affidavit, Cagle assaulted the victim by helping her remove her clothing prior to examination, then rubbing and tapping her buttocks after a shot. He then told her the best treatment for her symptoms was a massage, and he proceeded to rub her shoulders, back and side for two to three minutes.
He also attempted to insert a catheter, despite the doctor never ordering a urine sample. Cagle still has his nursing licence, but if disciplinary action is taken, he will face revocation of his licence and a $1,200 fine.
