After police went public with charges that Charlotte, North Carolina doctor Fidelis Edosomwan sexually assaulted two of his female patients, more than a dozen other former patients also came forward with allegations of sexual abuse.
One of the incidents allegedly occurred on January 2nd at the AmeriCare office on Milton Road and the other occured on January 14 at the West Sugar Creek office in Charlotte. Both incidents took place during medical examinations.
Police have charged Edosomwan with two counts of second-degree sex offense and three counts of sexual battery. He appeared before a judge on Friday, February 20. No new charges have been pressed following the additional accusations.
Edosomwan has voluntarily suspended his practice and denies all charges. Other former patients and coworkers have come forward in support, stating they’ve never had issue with Edosomwan or had reason to question his ethics.
Police have continued to discuss the case with media to encourage other potential victims to come forward.
