A Naperville, Illinois doctor was arrested at O’Hare International Airport after returning to the United States following an attempt to flee to China illegally. Dr. Haohua Yang was charged in December with sexually assaulting three female patients between 2012 and 2014 for improperly touching or fondling them during examinations.
Federal authorities were tipped off that Yang was on a flight to O’Hare after he was denied entry into China. Customs and Border Protection obtained an arrest warrant for Yang and then turned him over to police from Yorkville, Ill, where the sexual assaults allegedly occurred.
In December, Yang was charged with three felony counts of sexual assault and five counts of sexual abuse. He was released after posting $150,000 bail.
Yang had been practicing medicine since 1987. His medical license has been temporarily suspended due to the criminal charges.
