Clifford Hough pled guilty to molesting an 11 year-old boy at the Brentwood Behavioral Healthcare Institute in Mississippi. He was sentenced to 15 years for gratification of lust. The mother of the child has filed a federal lawsuit seeking damages against the state-funded institute for allowing Mr. Hough to molest her child multiple times, while other nurses who were made aware of the accusations did nothing and failed to investigate the accusations further.
The lawsuit says the boy reported the sex abuse to another nurse who did not investigate the claim because he did not believe the boy. The lawsuit also claims another employee knew Hough was going into the boy’s room at night and closing the door, which is a violation of the hospital’s policy. The employee did not report the matter to any supervisors. The suit requests compensatory and punitive damages in an amount that will be determined by an attorney.
