Jeffrey Dembs, a pediatrician in West Bloomfield, Michigan, was convicted of sexually assaulting a family friend’s 14-year old boy. Dr. Dembs was also the boy’s primary care physician. Dr. Dembs molested the boy several times throughout the boy’s life, including taking the boy on a trip to Las Vegas, where one of the sexual assaults occurred.
Dembs was sentenced to six to ten years, the higher end of the sentencing guidelines for first-degree criminal sexual conduct and two counts of second-degree criminal misconduct. The victim accused Dembs of attempting to foster a sexual relationship with him for more than two years, buying him expensive gifts and taking him on trips.
Dembs previously worked at the My Kid’s Doc practice in Novi, Michigan. He was also required to undergo DNA and HIV testing to comply with sex offender registry requirements.
